Deportations - 71 Terrorists and Threats should go to Afghanistan and Syria
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern live currently 71 offenders and threateners from Afghanistan and Syria, who are to be deported, according to Interior Minister Christian Pegel (SPD). A query at the immigration authorities of the municipalities yielded 37 Afghans and 34 Syrians, who are subject to deportation and have no protection, as Pegel stated in the parliament.
These are intensive offenders, threateners, and people who have committed serious crimes. "They are a small part of the large group of people we protect," said the minister. "But this small part causes us common difficulties in acceptance, yet is also not tolerable." He assumes that all these persons will be returned to their countries of origin over the next months and years.
Looking for practical repatriation solutions
The problem is that there are currently no direct flights from Germany to Afghanistan and Syria, stated the Minister during the government questioning in the parliament. The Federal Interior Ministry is in talks to open ways for repatriations. In the case of Afghanistan, there are hopes to find a solution soon. With Syria, talks are ongoing. The Minister did not want to provide further details.
