Misfortune - 70-year-old German died hiking in Mallorca

A 70-year-old German man died while hiking on Mallorca. The man is believed to have succumbed to a heatstroke, according to Mallorcan media citing rescue services. The incident occurred on Sunday around 3:00 PM, as the German was hiking with his wife in the area around the town of Colonia de Sant Pere in the northeastern part of the Spanish island, heading towards the small hermitage of Ermita de Betlem.

Currently, it is slightly cooler on Mallorca than in Germany.

Police confirmed the man's nationality and age but did not provide information on whether the couple was on holiday or resident on the island.

Spain has experienced several heatwaves this summer. However, currently, with daytime highs around 30 degrees Celsius, Mallorca is even slightly cooler than some areas in Germany.

On the tragic day, the hiking incident involving the German man occurred on Sunday. Despite the current milder temperatures on Mallorca, it's still warmer than Germany at the moment.
