Demo against right-wing - 600 people demonstrate at Sellner's appearance in Berlin
Approximately 600 people demonstrated in Berlin-Lichterfelde against an appearance of the Austrian right-wing extremist Martin Sellner. A police spokesperson stated that around 50 people attempted to break through a police barrier at one point to reach the event venue. The police were able to prevent this attempt, resulting in one arrest. The spokesperson reported that the protest overall proceeded peacefully.
Various groups participated in the protest. "No appetite for Nazis" or "Against any Fascism" were read on posters from the demonstrators in the early evening.
Sellner is a guest at a speaking engagement of the former AfD politician Andreas Wild in his office in Lichterfelde East. Sellner was previously the head of the far-right Identitarian Movement.
The demonstrators in Berlin-Lichterfelde strongly opposed Martin Sellner's scheduled appearance, citing his history with right-wing extremism. Despite a tense moment where around 50 individuals attempted to breach the police barrier, the demonstration mostly remained peaceful. According to reports, Sellner's speaking engagement was taking place in his office in Lichterfelde East.
