As of 17:23, aviation operations at Munich Airport have been proceeding without interruption despite heavy rainfall in numerous areas of Bavaria. So far, no flights have been cancelled. Airport spokesman Robert Wilhelm explained to BR that the water is visible in the meadows adjacent to the runways, the airport is slightly elevated, the runways slope to the outside, allowing the water to drain, and the runways are 'grooved' which enhance the water runoff. This assures no impending aquaplaning situation. The airport does not anticipate any significant hiccups over the weekend.
