24 young people were injured in the night on a Wednesday at a popular nightclub in the Croatian Adriatic metropolis of Split, when a glass facade in the entrance area of the local shattered. The injured, among them mainly tourists from Germany and Sweden, had been waiting for admission in front of the club. They sustained cuts from the flying glass shards, reported the local newspaper "Slobodna Dalmacija" citing the Split Clinic Center.

A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl remained in stationary care, their condition was described as stable. The other injured were able to go home after initial treatment.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary assessments suggest that the glass facade may have shattered due to the large crowd. Split is the largest city in the Dalmatian coast region of Croatia. In the summer, millions of people go on vacation there, many of them coming from Germany.
