Criminality - 18-year-old on trial for murder of ex-girlfriend
For Murder of his ex-girlfriend at their shared school in St. Leon-Rot near Heidelberg, a 18-year-old has to answer on the indictment bench. The trial begins on Tuesday (8.30 am) at Heidelberg Regional Court. The young man is accused of stabbing the same-aged classmate with a meat cleaver on January 25th, according to the prosecution. The young woman died at the scene, a common room.
The public prosecutor also accuses the defendant German of dangerous bodily harm in connection with an accident involving a getaway vehicle in Seesen, Lower Saxony. The alleged perpetrator fled towards North Germany in the car after the student's death. Additionally, the 18-year-old is accused of assaulting the later victim in November of the previous year because she wanted to leave him. The public prosecutor considers this as bodily harm.
The proceedings will take place in closed session - including indictment reading and verdict announcement. The reason: At the time of the alleged bodily harm, the student was still 17 years old and therefore a minor.
The suspect's past actions in Baden-Württemberg and Lower Saxony are under investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Germany. The school he attended in St. Leon-Rot, Heidelberg, is now a key location in the ongoing investigation. Despite fleeing to North Germany, the accused is expected to return to Germany for the court proceedings. The prosecution argues that the alleged assault causing bodily harm in Seesen further highlights the defendant's tendency towards criminality.
