Fire - 17 people injured in Konstanz Old Town fire

At a fire in Konstanz Old Town, a person was severely injured. Additionally, 16 people suffered from light carbon monoxide poisoning, according to a police spokeswoman. The fire broke out in the early morning hours in a house that was partly used commercially and partly as living quarters. Several adjacent buildings were also evacuated. The spokeswoman made no statements about how many people in the city of Baden-Württemberg had to leave their apartments.

The affected area in the Old Town has been extensively cordoned off. The cause of the fire was initially unclear. The extent of the damage was also initially unknown. The historic Old Town of Konstanz is located near the shores of Lake Constance and is popular with tourists.

The injured person was rushed to a nearby hospital in an emergency ambulance. Constance city authorities have set up temporary shelters for displaced residents in Baden-Württemberg. Despite the fire, the local police have reassured visitors that the rest of the Old Town remains safe for tourists.
