Stainless steel SUV - 165 US dollars for a Cybertruck windshield wiper: Tesla's spare parts catalog contains nasty surprises
At first glance, Tesla's online parts catalog does not contain any prices. Nevertheless, it is useful because you can take a close look at the vehicle assemblies and search for part numbers. Now that Tesla has delivered the Cybertruck stainless steel SUV, the huge vehicle has also been deposited there. With the appropriate access, it is apparently already possible to see what costs owners of the vehicles will incur - and some of them are astonishingly high.
In the online forum "Cybertruckownersclub", a member provides a glimpse of the stored prices. According to this, a new windshield wiper costs a staggering 165 US dollars, with the wiper blade alone costing 75 US dollars. By comparison, wiper blades for a current VW Golf cost around 20 euros as a set, while a new wiper arm costs around ten euros.
Tesla does not rely on standard parts for the Cybertruck
The high cost of the Cybertruck parts is probably also due to the fact that Tesla does not rely on established mass-produced parts for some parts, but instead goes its own way in some cases. For example, windshield wipers and windshields are among the largest representatives of their respective product categories and are therefore only manufactured for the Cybertruck. Small series are generally more expensive.
Unsurprisingly, this also applies to the windshield. If you catch a crack or a stone chip that cannot be repaired using standard repair methods, a new windshield will cost 1900 US dollars. Here too is a comparison: a new windshield for the Porsche Cayenne costs between 300 and 500 euros.
It gets really expensive when the front steering actuator, which the vehicle needs due to its electric steering, fails. Tesla estimates 3300 US dollars for the replacement. The specialist magazine "Carscoops" compares this with the cost of the entire steering unit of a Ford F-150 - which is around 2000 US dollars.
Body parts comparatively cheap
But there is also good news for Cybertruck owners - because it seems that the stainless steel body is relatively inexpensive when it comes to replacing individual parts. The front bumper, for example, costs 935 US dollars, while the front side mudguards cost 550 US dollars. It is important to remember that the parts no longer need to be painted. With many cars, you usually get such large body parts completely untreated, so the biggest costs are incurred by the workshop.

Despite its massive size, the Cybertruck's windshield wiper blade alone costs 75 US dollars, making a full replacement cost 165 US dollars. Interestingly, Tesla does not rely on standard parts for the Cybertruck, even for items like windshield wipers, which can be more expensive due to small series production.
