Health - 140 compensation claims after Corona vaccinations
Due to alleged damage following a Corona vaccination, 140 people in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern filed a claim for compensation in the previous year. This was 27 fewer than in 2022, as stated in the annual report of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Health and Social Affairs Office (Lagus), which Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) presented in Schwerin.
Many Rejections
Accordingly, six applications were approved and 81 were rejected. "No sufficient causality could be established between the vaccination and the health condition stated in the application," the report reads.
One of the most frequently claimed health conditions is the "Post-Vax Syndrome." With this term, various long-lasting symptoms after a Covid-19 vaccination are described, for example, chronic fatigue.
One of the largest authorities, the Landesamt employs more than 500 employees. Their tasks range from processing serious work accidents to drug supervision to the distribution of grants. The pilzberatung is also part of their responsibilities.
The employees handled 14 percent more applications for determination of disability in the previous year than in the previous year. "53,416 applications – that was a number the Lagus had not seen in over twelve years," the report states. By the end of 2023, there were reportedly 383,198 disabled people living in MV - almost a quarter of the population. Of these, 224,065 were severely disabled. More than 105,000 were severely mobility impaired.
Seven fatal work accidents
As in the previous year, seven people died in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern due to work accidents. 51 (2022: 50) suffered particularly severe injuries.
Medicines criticized
The experts of the Landesamt examined 77 medicine samples, mainly from public pharmacies. Of these, 22 (43 percent) were criticized. "The reason for the criticisms was in all cases inadequate labeling of the products," it was stated. Other reasons could be, for example, an insufficient active ingredient content in a salve or the exceeding of particle size limits in two salve samples. In 21 cases, the import was banned.
Poisonous mushrooms and deadly webfoot mushrooms
In approximately 2,400 pilzberatungen in the previous year, the consultants in the northeast reportedly sorted out 133 strongly poisonous mushrooms. Among them were 18 Green-spored Parasol mushrooms, nine Cauliflower Parasol mushrooms, 47 Panther Cap mushrooms, and 47 Deadly Webfoot mushrooms.
- Stefanie Drese, the Social Minister in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from the SPD party, presented the annual report of the Health and Social Affairs Office, highlighting a decrease in Coronavirus vaccine damage compensation claims.
- Despite the decrease, six claims for compensation were approved, while 81 were rejected due to insufficient causality between the vaccination and health conditions cited in the applications.
- The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Health and Social Affairs Office, also known as Lagus, handled an increased number of applications for disability determination, with 14% more applications processed compared to the previous year.
- In the realm of work accidents, unfortunately, seven fatalities and 51 severe injuries were reported in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a figure similar to the previous year's.
- The Regional Office, specifically the Landesamt, also oversee drug supervision and the distribution of grants, and in 2022, they criticized 22 medicine samples from public pharmacies, mainly due to inadequate labeling.
