More than 25 years after the disappearance of hairdresser Roswitha Hedt from Wittingen (Landkreis Gifhorn), the police are hoping for new leads through the ZDF show "Aktenzeichen XY... Vermisst". The disappearance of the 52-year-old woman in 1999 is the topic of the show by Rudi Cerne, as the ZDF and the police in Gifhorn announced. The disappearance of Roswitha Hedt still poses a mystery to the investigators. The woman unexpectedly visited a friend in Braunschweig at the beginning of January 1999. She was last seen shopping there. Later, her phone was called several times from the Wolfenbüttel city area.

As the "Gifhorner Rundschau" reported, Roswitha Hedt's car was found unlocked several days later on the parking lot of the city hospital in Wolfenbüttel. The car had been there for several days. The police found shopping purchases in the car but no signs of a violent crime.

Gifhorner Criminal Chief Commissioner Frank Bauerfeld will present the disappearance case on the ZDF show. The police have offered a reward of 3,000 Euros for tips regarding the case. "The 3,000 Euro reward should serve as an incentive for witnesses who know the missing person to contact us," Bauerfeld told the newspaper. If Roswitha Hedt is still alive, she would be 77 years old today.
