Missing for 17 years - Woman from Regensburg missing - case in ZDF investigative program

17 years after the disappearance of Kerstin Lee Langley from Regensburg, investigators are searching for new leads with the help of the ZDF-investigative series "Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst". The Bavarian Criminal Police have offered a reward of 10,000 Euro.

In the Wednesday evening broadcast of the special edition on missing persons, her brother also spoke about the mysterious case. He had little hope of seeing his older sister again, he said: "I think she won't be alive anymore."

He reported her missing in the summer of 2007 when she was 39 years old. There is no trace of her since then. Her former partner stated that she had separated from him and had driven off with an old friend in a dark car with Deggendorf license plates. So far, the investigators have not been able to locate this "old friend". No suspicion has been reported against the former partner, to whom Langley had moved to Regensburg a short time before.

Mysterious SMS out of the blue

About two months after her disappearance, her then 17-year-old son reported receiving an SMS from her. In it, it was supposedly written: "Hi, my Baby. I have found a new angel. Life must go on."

Five years later, a man contacted the police, who had been told by a friend that her ex-husband had killed Langley and another woman and knew where their bodies were buried. However, the second woman was later found to be alive and no body was found at the alleged burial site. According to police reports, this lead also ran dry.

Everything is possible, said the investigating criminal inspector of the Regensburg Police - from voluntary disappearance to accident or murder. Should Langley still be alive today, she would be 56 years old. The police are particularly interested in knowing if anyone has seen the missing person since the summer of 2007 or can provide information about the mentioned "old friend" with the Deggendorfer car.

  1. The SMS, allegedly sent by Kerstin, was a mysterious message that brought new intrigue to the case.
  2. The Regensburg LKA is urging anyone who might have received a File XY containing information related to Kerstin's case to come forward.
  3. During the investigation, the media played a significant role in keeping the public informed about the missing person case in Bavaria.
  4. The police discovered that the "old friend" mentioned by Kerstin's former partner had a connection to Munich, adding another layer to the complex investigation.
  5. The investigators found no evidence to support the claim that Kerstin's brother, Ms. Langley, was involved in her disappearance.
  6. The Bavarian police are currently analyzing old CCTV footage from auto garages and television stations in Regensburg and surrounding areas to see if they can spot Kerstin or her "old friend"s car.
