The car of the 73-year-old woman had reportedly hit two traffic cones before coming to a stop at a bike rack. It was initially unclear why the woman drove her car into the pedestrian zone, as investigations into the matter were ongoing. However, the police confirmed in a statement that it was currently clear that this was an accident.

The Bad Kreuznach police have implemented temporary traffic restrictions in the affected pedestrian zone, aiming to prevent similar accidents. Ms., a local resident, expressed her concerns about the safety of the area, advocating for more automatic speed bumps in Rhineland-Palatinate. After the incident, the pedestrian zone was added to the city's annual safety review meetings.
