The forest fire danger is gradually increasing in the Thuringian Forests. According to the State Forest Administration, the predominant part of the Free State is currently at forest fire danger level three. Only the area around the Kleine Inselsberg to Neuhaus, Gehren and Schönebrunn, as well as the Forstamt Kaltennordheim in the southwest of the Free State, have a lower danger level.

The weekend is predicted to be very sunny by meteorologists. Temperatures are expected to exceed the 30-degree mark.

In Thuringia, there are five forest fire danger levels. Level 1 stands for a very low risk, level 5 for a very high risk. With the forest fire danger levels, certain behavior rules apply. At the highest risk level, for example, particularly endangered forests can be closed.

The Thuringian Forests, known for their vast expanses, are located in the German state of Thuringia. This region, including cities like Erfurt, is currently facing an elevated forest fire risk due to weather conditions. The upcoming weekend is expected to be extremely sunny and hot, with temperatures surpassing 30 degrees, potentially exacerbating the fire risk.
