Zollernalbkreis - Wife of the suspect in Albstadt not in danger of life
One week after the bloody assault in Albstadt, Baden-Württemberg (Zollernalbkreis), the wife of the suspect is no longer in critical condition. The prosecutor's office in Hechingen confirmed this in response to an inquiry. However, they have not been able to question her yet. Previously, the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" and "Stuttgarter Zeitung" reported this.
According to the current state of investigations, the 63-year-old is believed to have shot and killed his 24-year-old son and his 84-year-old mother-in-law on the previous Sunday. His 26-year-old daughter and his 59-year-old mother - the suspect's wife - were shot and seriously injured by the shooter, according to the prosecutor's office. He is then believed to have committed suicide. The daughter was also in critical condition after the incident.
Weapon used was legally possessed by hunter
The backgrounds and motives of the crime are still being investigated by the prosecutor's office. A spokesperson stated that the 63-year-old had not confessed to anything yet. Police and prosecutor's office assume that he shot his family with a pistol. The weapon was legally possessed by him as a hunter.
In the course of investigations, tips were followed up on that financial uncertainties about the future and a psychological illness could have played a role in the crime, police and prosecutor's office announced. The voluntary stationary treatment was interrupted by the suspect at the weekend of the incident for a family meeting.
The crime took place in the Zollernalbkreis region of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The incident resulted in significant violence, leading to the death of a 24-year-old son and an 84-year-old mother-in-law. The suspect's wife, now out of critical condition, and his 26-year-old daughter were also seriously injured. On Sunday, the suspect is believed to have used a legally possessed pistol, which he held as a hunter, to carry out the attack. Despite ongoing investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Hechingen, the motives behind the crime remain unclear, with financial uncertainties and a possible psychological illness being potential factors. The suspect reportedly interrupted his voluntary hospital stay for a family meeting before the incident, which ultimately resulted in life-threatening situations for several family members.
