Weather forecast - Weather service warns of heat for the weekend

Over the weekend, it will be hot in Hessen: The German Weather Service (DWD) warns for today and tomorrow of "strong heat stress" in wide parts of the country. Affected today are particularly cities and districts in Southern Hessen, but also parts of the Main-Kinzig-District. The warning will be extended to the entire Hessen for tomorrow.

DWD meteorologists expect temperatures up to 32 degrees Celsius today and even up to 34 degrees Celsius tomorrow. They warn of heat-related illnesses, particularly affecting older people, chronically ill individuals, and small children. The meteorologists recommend that risk groups drink enough, avoid direct sun exposure and strenuous activities, and keep their homes cool.

The DWD issues a heat warning when the perceived temperature already exceeds a threshold of about 32 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon. If the perceived temperature exceeds a value of 38 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon, a "severe heat warning" is issued.

DWD Heat Warning Hessen Tips DWD Heat

  1. Despite the upcoming weekend in Southern Hesse, specifically in Offenbach and the Main-Kinzig district, individuals should be aware of the DWD's weather forecast warning of "strong heat stress."
  2. Given the forecasted temperatures up to 34 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the German Weather Service (DWD) advises risk groups in Hesse to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, take breaks from strenuous activities, and maintain cool indoor environments to mitigate heat-related illnesses.
  3. The DWD's heat warning for Hesse extends beyond just Southern Hesse, as the entire region is expected to face excessive heat over the weekend.
  4. Residents in Hesse should be vigilant and follow the recommendations issued by the DWD, ensuring their health and well-being is prioritized amid the summer heat.
  5. It is crucial for everyone, especially older people, chronically ill individuals, and small children, to be mindful of the DWD's weather forecast and the associated heat warning, as it can negatively impact health during unusually hot weather conditions.
