swimming season - Water quality in Bavaria's lakes is excellent

The summer recreational swimming in Bayern's lakes, according to the Health Ministry's statements, is largely undisturbed due to a mostly excellent Water quality, as reported by the Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority (LGL). The authority took 1,122 water samples. In nearly 98% of the cases, the water quality was rated as excellent or good, according to Health Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU). "Therefore, our lakes offer a wonderful opportunity to escape the daily routine and enjoy the warm days this year," said Gerlach.

The current values can also be found online on the list of Bavarian EU bathing waters, which is arranged by government districts. For example, the samples from the Feringasee and the Starnberger See in Possenhofen, the Forggensee in Dietringen, or the Großer Brombachsee in Allmannsdorf were not criticizable on the website this year.

The results confirm those of the previous year. According to the Ministry, the health departments take six samples, shortly before and during the swimming season, which runs from the end of April to September 15. These are tested for coliform bacteria, and if suspected, also for blue-green algae.
