health - Water in Zittau is clean again

The inhabitants of several districts in Zittau no longer need to boil their water. The supply network had been intensively filled for seven days, making the drinking water again free of defects and germ-free, the commune announced. Therefore, the boil water order that had been in effect since July 12 was fully lifted with immediate effect. The network will now be disinfected with chlorine for two weeks. However, this has no influence on the use as drinking water. The background was heavy rain in the night from July 10 to 11. During this time, surface water penetrated into one of the city's drinking water production areas.

Residents in the affected neighborhoods of Zittau can now enjoy their water directly from the tap, as the boil water order has been officially lifted due to the improved water quality. This positive development in the commune's water supply system follows the successful seven-day intensive filling and disinfection process. Despite the upcoming two-week chlorine disinfection of the network, there are no restrictions on using the water for health purposes in Zittau, Saxony.
