Weather warning - Warning of strong thunderstorms in Saxony
The German Weather Service warns of strong thunderstorms in large parts of Saxony. For Sunday afternoon, Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for the districts of Bautzen, Meissen, Mittelsachsen, Nordsachsen Saxon Switzerland-Ore Mountains and Erzgebirgskreis. The same applies to the city of Dresden. There is a risk of uprooted trees, falling objects, rapid flooding of roads and underpasses, as well as aquaplaning and hailstones, it said.
The threatening weather conditions have led to a weather warning in Leipzig, a city located within the larger region of Saxony. The Bautzen District, specifically, is preparing for potential damage due to the imminent thunderstorms. Despite the severe weather in several parts of Saxony, such as Saxon Switzerland-Ore Mountains, the city of Leipzig and the districts of Meissen, Mittelsachsen, Nordsachsen, and Erzgebirgskreis, the German Weather Service DWD continues to closely monitor and issue updates on the situation.
