Nightly control - Wanted with arrest warrant - arrest at Hauptbahnhof Erfurt
By chance, the German Federal Police arrested a 34-year-old man at the Erfurt Main Station, who had an arrest warrant out for him. A patrol checked the man, who apparently had "no travel intentions," around 1.30 AM according to the statement. Upon checking the police records, it was discovered that there were two detention orders and an arrest warrant against him. He had been arrested because the 34-year-old had left accident scenes unlawfully in several cases.
The man was taken into custody. It was then discovered that he was also heavily intoxicated - with an alcohol level of slightly over 0.04 percent. However, he showed no signs of intoxication, it was reported. According to the Federal Health Education Center (BZgA), adults over three promille alcohol "run the risk of paralysis of the respiratory center and thus endanger their lives."
After a medical examination, it was determined that despite the degree of alcoholization, there were no objections to his detention, as reported by the Federal Police. The man was presented to a magistrate in the afternoon and taken to the prison in Tonna (Gotha district).
The man's arrest at the Erfurt Main Station was due to multiple detention orders and an arrest warrant issued in Thuringia, related to his history of leaving accident scenes unlawfully. Despite appearing sober during the arrest, his alcohol level was found to be slightly over the legal limit of 0.00% for driving. The Federal Police, after a medical examination, determined that the man's level of intoxication did not pose a threat to his detention.
