Football-Bundesliga - VfB Stuttgart starts training camp in Japan

VfB Stuttgart started its one-week training camp in Japan after landing at Osaka airport. As part of the international marketing of the German Bundesliga, the German vice champion and future Champions League participant will also play two test matches in this eastern Asian country. On Sunday, the team coached by Sebastian Hoeneß faces Kyoto Sanga F.C. (12:00 PM), and on August 1, the VfB plays against Sanfrecce Hiroshima (11:30 AM).

For Stuttgart, the trip is primarily about building a stronger presence on the Japanese soccer market and gaining new fans in this island nation. However, the training conditions are not optimal with temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius and high humidity.

Hoeneß expects temperatures that feel more like 45 degrees, he recently explained. Training intensively will likely be quite challenging. The two test matches are the focus when it comes to the physical exertion of his players.

  1. VfB Stuttgart, currently the vice champion of Germany's Bundesliga, is set to participate in the Champions League next season.
  2. The training camp in Japan is an opportunity for VfB Stuttgart to further establish its presence in the Japanese soccer market.
