Football-Bundesliga - VfB signs Demirovic from Augsburg - Guirassy before BVB transfer
VfB Stuttgart has reacted to the impending departure of Torjäger Serhou Guirassy and signed Ermedin Demirović from Bundesliga rival FC Augsburg. The Bosnian football national team striker signed a contract with the Champions League participant until June 30, 2028, as the Swabians announced.
Guirassy transfer likely still this week
Meanwhile, the transfer of Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund seems to be getting closer. According to consistent media reports, the 28-year-old Guinean's medical check-up in the previous week revealed a knee injury. However, the transfer is expected to be finalized this week after further examination, according to reports. Guirassy can leave the VfB for less than 20 million Euros due to an exit clause. He is expected to sign his contract on Thursday, Sky reported and Fabrizio Romano confirmed.
Augsburg reportedly receive 21 million Euros plus bonus payments for Demirović. The native of Hamburg is the most expensive purchase in Stuttgart's club history. The 26-year-old scored 15 league goals and set up ten for FC Augsburg last season.
Demirović impressed by VfB playing style
"He is one of the top strikers in the Bundesliga. As a scorer, Ermedin is just as convincing as a provider," said VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth about Demirović. "His experience and mentality make him a huge gain for our team."
Demirović could possibly fill the gap in the VfB attack caused by Guirassy's departure to some extent. "After the game in Stuttgart, I became a fan of this team," the offensive player said, who lost 0:3 with the FCA against the Schwaben last season. "I like their playing style and the team."
