Gladly in Bavaria - US-guitarist Al Di Meola: Munich is his second home
American jazz guitarist Al Di Meola fell in love with Munich when he was 20 years old. "Whenever we were on European tours, I would spend the free days in Munich," he told the German Press Agency. Now he comes to the Bavarian state capital more frequently, as he is married to a Munich woman. "It's a beautiful, picturesque village. Very peaceful – and everyone looks good. I love the English Garden and Bavarian beer."
Al Di Meola has just released his new album "Twentyfour" and is currently on a Germany tour. On July 22, the frequently awarded guitarist celebrates his 70th birthday.
Al Di Meola's love for Munich, stemming from his 20-year-old self, led him to explore the city during European tours. Now, as a frequent visitor due to his marriage to a Munich woman, he cherishes the city's peacefulness, the English Garden, and Bavarian beer. Inspired by his German experiences, some of his new album "Twentyfour" tracks have a jazz influence reminiscent of the fusion music popular in Germany and the USA.
