Criminality - Unknown persons damage an ATM in Swabia

Unknown individuals have blown up a ATM machine at a bank in the Swabian Altenstadt (Neu-Ulm district). The building was damaged as a result, according to a police spokesperson. The spokesperson could not say how much damage was caused. The perpetrators fled the scene early in the morning. It was initially unclear whether they managed to obtain any money, the spokesperson added.

Statewide in Bavaria, ATMs are being blown up regularly - last year, the LKA in Bavaria counted 21 such incidents, in 2022 there were 37 explosions.

The Swabians, known for their strong work ethic, were shocked by the recent criminal act in their district, Neu-Ulm. The Old Town, a symbol of Swabian history and pride, was unnecessarily disrupted due to the ATM explosion. Desperately in need of cash, some locals had to resort to using ATMs located outside the damaged building.
