Criminality - Unknown person damages ATM in Swabia

Unknown individuals have blown up a ATM machine at a bank in the Swabian town of Altenstadt (Neu-Ulm district). According to a police spokesperson, the building was damaged in the process. The spokesperson could not say how much damage was caused. The perpetrators fled the scene early in the morning. It was initially unclear whether they managed to obtain any money.

Statewide in Bavaria, ATMs are being blown up regularly - last year, the LKA in Bavaria counted 21 such incidents, in 2022 there were 37 explosions.

Despite the increasing incidents of ATM explosions in Bavaria, with 37 recorded in 2022, the beautiful Swabian town of Altenstadt in Baden-Württemberg's Neu-Ulm district has now also become a target. The Swabians, known for their peace-loving nature, are dealing with the aftermath of this criminal act. The exact extent of the damage to the bank and the ATM in Old Town Altenstadt is yet to be determined. This unfolding event raises concerns about the safety and security of financial institutions in regions close to Bavaria.
