Criminality - Ukrainians in Oberhausen murdered - Charges against adolescents
Six months after the fatal stabbing attack on two Ukrainians in Oberhausen, the prosecutor's office has filed a murder charge against four juveniles. The 14- to 15-year-olds are accused of committing joint double murder, a spokesperson of the Essen Regional Court told the German Press Agency. The indictment also includes a series of further robberies and bodily harm offenses that the four youths are alleged to have committed in changing composition since May 2023. The court now has to decide whether to allow the indictment for the main trial.
The crime on February 10 caused shock nationwide. The two 17 and 18-year-old aspiring professional basketball players from the Ukraine were attacked at Oberhausen Main Station and seriously injured by stab wounds. There was no racist background to the crime according to police estimates.
