These two young Men were previously held in pre-trial detention for 911 days, which is taken into account.

Two convicted men in pre-trial detention

The Dresden Prosecutor's Office filed an application for the execution of the sentence for a 27-year-old man, who is still in detention for another matter. Another 25-year-old is currently in a Berlin prison, but the Ordinance for Adult Penal Servitude was only ordered for him at the end of April, which has not yet been carried out.

Jewel thieves steal unique historical jewelry

The burglary at Saxony's famous museum of treasures on November 25, 2019, was one of the most spectacular art thefts in Germany. The thieves stole 21 jewelry pieces made of diamonds and brilliants and caused damages worth over one million Euros. They also set one of their getaway cars on fire in the underground garage of a residential building.

In May 2023, the Landgericht Dresden sentenced five young men from the Berlin Remmo Clan to multiple years in prison. The judgment is now legally binding. For four of them, the detention orders against them had been suspended as part of a plea bargain at the end of the trial. However, one of them was still serving another sentence, so only three of them were released on probation. The fifth defendant had to remain in custody because he did not agree to the deal. Part of the agreement was the return of a large part of the loot, but some of the most valuable items are still missing. For the sixth defendant, a cousin from a well-known Arabic family, there was an acquittal.

  1. Despite the jail sentences issued for their involvement in the Dresden Green Vault jewel theft, the 28-year-old and 30-year-old men will continue serving their sentences in Berlin's penal system, as ordered by the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office.
  2. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Saxony has also filed an application for the execution of the sentence of a 27-year-old man, who is still in pre-trial detention for another case in Saxony.
  3. The public discourse surrounding criminality in Germany has intensified following the high-profile jewel theft in Dresden's Museum, viewed as a form of punishment for freedom away from justice.
  4. The burglary at Dresden's Green Vault, one of Germany's most renowned Art and Museums, resulted in the theft of 21 precious jewelry items valued at over one million Euros.
  5. With the Berlin Criminal Court now receiving the files for the 25-year-old convicted man, justice begins to take its course for another individual involved in the Dresden jewel theft, marking another step towards restitution.
  6. The acquittal of a cousin from a well-known Arabic family in the context of the Dresden jewel theft case was met with a mixed response by the Saxon Newspaper, reflecting the complex intersection of local and international criminology in Germany.
  7. The punishment for freedom seems to continue for the jewel thieves, as the Berlin penal system awaits the arrival of the convicted men to serve the remaining years of their prison sentences for their roles in the Dresden Green Vault burglary.
