Federal Diet - Two green Bundestag deputies will no longer participate

In a few days, two Green Bundestag deputies from Rhineland-Palatinate have announced their resignation before the next Bundestag election in 2025: First Tabea Rößner, who was the Rhineland-Palatinate Green Party's lead candidate in 2021, and now Tobias Lindner, who is a State Minister in the Foreign Office.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Green Party's state chairpersons, Natalie Cramme-Hill and Paul Bunjes, announced this on Tuesday. Rößner, who has been a Bundestag deputy since 2009, made a name for herself as a media-savvy energy and digital policy expert. She has been advocating for the expansion of renewable energies and sustainable mobility for decades.

Rößner, who has been a Bundestag deputy since 2009, addressed the Green Party members in a letter on the previous Friday. She decided, after careful consideration, not to run for re-election in the upcoming Bundestag election. "It's time for something new," she wrote. Currently, there are five Green deputies from Rhineland-Palatinate in the Bundestag, in addition to Lindner and Rößner are Armin Grau, Misbah Khan, and Corinna Rüffer.

  1. Tobias Lindner, a prominent Green Party member and State Minister in Germany's Foreign Office, recently announced his resignation, preceding the Federal Election in 2025.
  2. The announcement came from the Green Party in Rhineland-Palatinate, led by state chairpersons Natalie Cramme-Hill and Paul Bunjes, who made the announcement in Berlin on Tuesday.
  3. Berlin is not the only city affected by this change; Mainz, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, will also see a shift in its representation, as Tobias Lindner will no longer be a Federal parliamentarian.
  4. The Green Party, known for its advocacy for renewable energy and sustainable mobility, will miss the expertise of Tobias Lindner in the Federal Parliament, especially during the critical discussions leading up to the Federal Election.
  5. With the resignation of Tabea Rößner and Tobias Lindner, parties like the Greens in Rhineland-Palatinate will have to look for new candidates to replace them in the Federal Parliament, ensuring a diverse and dynamic political landscape leading up to the 2025 Federal Election.
