Second Bundesliga - Two cruciate ligament injuries in one day: Braunschweig in misfortune
At Eintracht Braunschweig, a second-tier football club, two players suffered a cruciate ligament tear each at a single training session. Goalkeeper Tino Casali and forward Sidi Sané will both be out for several months, the club announced on Friday.
Both knee injuries occurred during training on Wednesday. Sport business manager Benjamin Kessel spoke of "bitter news for us and for the players."
Casali sustained not only a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament but also a tear of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The 28-year-old Austrian intended to replace Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, who had switched from Schalke 04 to Braunschweig.
The 21-year-old Sané is the younger brother of German national player Leroy Sané of Bayern Munich. The offensive player had already injured his knee shortly after his transfer from Schalke 04 to Eintracht last summer.
- Despite the setbacks at Braunschweig United with injuries to Tino Casali and Sidi Sane_, the team continues to train in Lower Saxony, preparing for their matches in the Second Bundesliga.
- The cruciate ligament tear and subsequent knee injury for Sane_, the younger brother of Leroy Sane_, has been a disappointment, as he was looking forward to contributing more to the team in Germany's soccer league.
- The absence of both goalkeeper Tino Casali and forward Sidi Sane_ due to their injuries leaves a vacancy in the roster for Braunschweig United, who are currently competing in the Bundesliga's second division.
- Fans of Braunschweig United in Germany might be hoping that Leroy Sane_ could make a special appearance during a training day to motivate his injured younger brother and the entire team.
- The setbacks experienced by Tino Casali and Sidi Sane_ with cruciate ligament tears could potentially impact Braunschweig United's performance in the Bundesliga Second Division and will require careful handling of positions until their recovery.
