It is the second accident with a tram in Berlin-Mitte today: A cyclist collided with a tram on Invalidenstraße.

Mitte, Berlin - Tram hits bicyclist - cyclist severely injured

A cyclist was seriously injured by a streetcar on Invalidenstraße in Berlin-Mitte. The streetcar hit the man in the afternoon, causing him to fall and get his bike trapped under the vehicle, according to the fire department. The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital. The tram driver sustained light injuries in the accident, which occurred around 4:00 PM.

Early in the morning, around 3:30 AM, there was a serious tram accident in Berlin-Mitte as well: A drunk pedestrian fell onto the streetcar tracks at Henriette-Herz-Platz near Hackeschen Markt and remained there, according to the police. The following tram ran over the 57-year-old man, who was reportedly pulled under the vehicle up to his waist. He was severely injured and taken to the hospital, although his life was not in danger, according to the police. The 48-year-old tram driver also went to the hospital with shock. The police have initiated further investigations.

  1. Despite the previous accident involving a tram and a pedestrian at Henriette-Herz-Platz, another traffic incident occurred on Invalidenstraße in Berlin-Mitte.
  2. Witnesses reported seeing a bicycle trapped under the tram following the incident on Invalidenstraße, leading the fire department to respond.
  3. The police urged drivers and cyclists to be extra cautious on Invalidenstraße and encouraged the use of alternative routes to avoid possible accidents due to the ongoing investigation.
  4. The Fire Department in Berlin advised drivers to be alert for emergency vehicles and make way for them when necessary, especially on busy streets like Invalidenstraße.
  5. In response to the increased number of accidents in Berlin-Mitte, the local authorities discussed potential measures to improve traffic safety, including the installation of additional traffic signals and signs along Invalidenstraße.
