After the TV report in ZDF-show "Aktenzeichen XY... Vermisst" there were various clues about the disappearance of hairdresser master Roswitha Hedt from Wittingen (Landkreis Gifhorn) 25 years ago. "That intrigued many, because it's so mysterious," said a police spokeswoman of the Policeinspection Gifhorn. She hoped that new information would help in the clarification.

The disappearance of the then 52-year-old woman still poses a riddle for investigators. The woman unexpectedly visited a friend in Braunschweig at the beginning of January 1999. She was last seen shopping there. Later, her phone was called several times from the Wolfenbüttel city area.

As reported by the "Gifhorner Rundschau", the car of the missing person was found unlocked several days later on the parking lot of the city hospital in Wolfenbüttel. The car had been there for several days. The police found shopping purchases in the car, but no signs of violence. "The case is completely open," said the police spokeswoman.

For tips on the case, the police have offered a reward of 3,000 Euros. Roswitha Hedt would be 77 years old if she is still alive.
