campaign - Thuringia AfD will focus on "classical AfD themes"
The Thuringia AfD will focus on classic AfD themes such as migration or criticism of renewable energies, according to a party spokesperson. The campaign will run under the slogan "The East makes it," said Thuringia's deputy AfD chief Torben Braga before the campaign kick-off of his party planned for Saturday (6:30 pm). We will also try to bring about a change.
"We traditionally campaign mainly with issues and less with persons," Braga replied when asked how much the campaign would focus on the AfD state party chairman Bjoern Hoecke. However, he assumes that Hoecke will be "very present" on posters. The native of North Rhine-Westphalia Hoecke is the AfD's leading candidate for the Thuringian state election on September 1.
The AfD has been in Thuringia's polls with values around 30 percent for months, placing first. Recently, the party, which is classified as reliably extremist by the Thuringian Constitutional Protection, lost some support. In addition, the AfD is isolated in Thuringia. None of the parties represented in the parliament would coalition with the AfD. Hoecke has lately repeatedly claimed to want to become Minister-President.
The election slogan "The East makes it" is chosen by Thuringia's deputy AfD chief Torben Braga for the upcoming State election. The classic AfD themes of migration and criticism of renewable energies will be foucsed during the campaign by the Thuringia AfD, as stated by a party spokesperson. Torben Braga mentions that while the campaign will primarily focus on issues, Björn Höcke will be prominently featured on posters. Despite being in the polls with values around 30%, the AfD in Thuringia has recently lost some support and is currently isolated, with no parties in the parliament willing to coalition with them.
