Berliners and Brandenburgers need to prepare for high heat stress until Monday night. The highest temperatures, according to the German Weather Service, are expected to be between 31 and 34 degrees. In the late Sunday afternoon and evening, there is expected to be thunderstorms, heavy rain, and storms. Rainfall is expected to be between 15 and 25 liters per square meter, with locally up to 40 liters.
The thunderstorms will move from Prignitz through Havelland, Potsdam-Mittelmark, Teltow-Flaming to the Elbe-Elster-District in the afternoon. In the late evening, there is also a possibility of thunderstorms in the Berlin area. In addition to small hail, the DWD meteorologists expect local gusts of wind with speeds between 65 and 80 kilometers per hour, occasionally up to 90. On Monday, it will be cloudy with local rain showers. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. The highest temperatures will be 24 to 27 degrees. The night to Tuesday is expected to be dry, with temperatures between 11 and 15 degrees. On Tuesday itself, temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees are expected, with further small showers. On Wednesday, temperatures will drop to 22 to 24 degrees, with light to moderate northwest wind.
Despite the forecasted high temperatures in Berlin and Brandenburg, preparations for heat stress are necessary until Monday night.
