At a collision of several vehicles on Autobahn 1 in Salmtal (Landkreis Bernkastel-Wittlich), three people have been lightly injured. A small truck and an oncoming car caught fire and burned out, as the police reported. According to current knowledge, a car had previously collided with a lorry that was braking or already standing at a construction site. The lorry hit the following car. The car in front also collided with another vehicle. Autobahn 1 was closed towards Trier in the morning for the time being. Emergency services brought the three lightly injured persons to the hospital. The extent of the damage was initially unclear.
The accident on Autobahn 1 resulted in a fire involving a small truck and an oncoming car. Unfortunately, such incidents, including this assembly crash, are not uncommon in Rhineland-Palatinate. Despite the collision involving several vehicles, thankfully, only minor injuries were reported. To prevent such accidents in the future, traffic safety assemblies should emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe distance while driving, especially near construction sites.
