summer vacations - Thousands are drawn to the coast by sunny weather

Hamburg/Timmendorfer Strand (dpo/lno) - Holiday beginning and sunniest summer weather: Thousands of people have been drawn to the coast in the north for the beginning of summer holidays. The beaches of the Lübeck Bay were bustling, some beach chair rentals in Timmendorfer Strand were even fully booked in the early afternoon.

"It looks just like a swimming pool", said a woman as she arrived at the crowded beach. But there was also a lot going on in the water. With water temperatures between 18 and 19 degrees, many were drawn to the cool water. The promenades and shops were also busy. In Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, the summer holidays had begun this day. But most other federal states have also started their holidays.

The German Weather Service had promised high summer temperatures - 28 degrees on Sylt and up to 31 degrees along the Elbe. However, it can already change from Sunday afternoon. The DWD expects an increase in cloud cover and from Elbe and North Sea strong showers, thunderstorms and even storm risk through heavy rain.

  1. Despite the potential weather changes, families were excited to kick-off their summer holidays at Timmendorf Beach in Lübecker Bay, near Hamburg in Schleswig-Holstein.
  2. The Lübecker Bay, known for its crystal-clear waters, became a hub for leisure activities during this vacation start, attracting locals and tourists alike.
  3. Tourism in Schleswig-Holstein saw a surge as people flocked to enjoy the warm weather, avec their vacations and visits to iconic Lübecker landmarks.
  4. Despite the forecasted showers, the anticipation of relaxing days on Timmendorf Beach during summer holidays was unwavering, making it a popular choice among visitors.
  5. While vacationers reveled in their summer holidays, they kept a keen eye on the weather updates, hoping that the predicted showers would not hinder their leisurely activities in the Lübecker Bay.
