The weather remains wet and quite mild

The weather in Germany will remain wet, uncomfortable and relatively mild in many places at the start of the new week. The reason for this is low pressure system "Marco", which is moving from the British Isles across Germany to Poland, according to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.

"The lively south-westerly current is bringing mild air to Germany. As a result, highs will mostly be in the double-digit range between 10 and 15 degrees", explained DWD meteorologist Marco Manitta. It will only gradually get colder towards the middle of the week, with snow in the mountains and a risk of frost at night.

On Sunday, the sky will be mostly cloudy to very cloudy. Rain will initially fall in the east and in the Alps, and again in the northwest in the afternoon. In between, it may stay dry for longer periods alongside showers, with clear spells expected in the south in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach 8 to 15 degrees. A moderate to fresh, gusty south-westerly wind will blow. In the mountains, there may be stormy and sometimes heavy squalls.

On Monday, there will only be some sunshine in the foothills of the Alps and it will be dry for longer, otherwise it will be mostly cloudy with intermittent rainfall, according to the DWD. It will remain mild with highs between 8 degrees in Western Pomerania and 14 degrees on the Upper Rhine. In the north and northeast, there will be weak, moderate northeasterly to easterly winds on the Baltic Sea. Otherwise, moderate westerly winds are forecast, with strong gusts in many places. Squalls are expected on the mountains.

On Tuesday, it is forecast to be very cloudy in the north and northwest with some clearing, where there may be some rain at first. In the rest of the country, the sky will be mostly overcast and there may be intermittent showers that will increasingly mix with snow in the higher mountain regions. Temperatures will rise to 6 degrees in the north-east and up to 11 degrees on the Upper Rhine.

The German Weather Service predicts continued wet and mild weather, with highs between 8 and 15 degrees, for the start of the new week due to the low pressure system "Marco". According to the forecast, the mild air will be brought by a lively south-westerly current.
