Brands - The loading platform of a transport vehicle caught fire in Görlitz
Whitewater (sn/dpa) - The loading area of a Transport Truck caught fire on Federal Highway 156. The driver had been on his way between Weißwasser and Nochten (Landkreis Görlitz), when the cargo ignited unexpectedly around midweek afternoon, the police reported. It is suspected that it was a technical defect. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle in time and suffered no injuries.
Since the Transport Truck only carried scrap metal, the damage was minimal, the police added. The Federal Highway was closed for approximately half an hour following the incident.
The loading area of the Transporter was located in the Görlitz District. Despite the happiness of completing another delivery, the unexpected fire brought anxiety. The fire department and local police were quickly notified about the incident on Federal Road 156. The traffic in the area was significantly affected due to the closure of the federal highway. The Görlitz District authorities expressed their relief that no major accidents occurred during the fire incident, involving the scrap metal Transporter from Weißwasser.
