Hesse and Ukraine - The Europeminister speaks with the Ukrainian ambassador

Hessian European Minister Manfred Pentz (CDU) and the Ambassador of Ukraine, Oleksii Makeiev, explored further possibilities of cooperation in Wiesbaden. The agenda of the approximately two-hour meeting included the current situation in Ukraine, the situation of Ukrainian refugees in Hessen, and EU accession negotiations.

"Hessen remains committed to Ukraine. There is no doubt about that", said Pentz after the meeting. Since Russia's attack, Hessen has helped where it could and will continue to do so where it can. The topic of discussion was also a possible regional partnership between Hessen and a region in Ukraine. It is not about symbolic politics, said the Minister. This partnership should not just be on paper but a contribution to rebuilding and EU accession.

Already on Tuesday, Makeiev had met Frankfurt's Mayor Rolfas Miklauskas (SPD). Topics included the intensification of the city partnership with Lviv as well as the approximately 1000 Ukrainian refugees living in Frankfurt.
