Heavy accident - The car overturns - woman and two children heavily injured
A 36-year-old woman and two children, aged six and eight, were seriously injured in a car accident on the B410 federal highway between Arzfeld and Lichtenborn in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm. The police reported that the car left the road at the end of a left curve on the Bundesstraße. The car flipped over and landed on its roof. The Bundesstraße was closed for an hour at Arzfeld. Three ambulances, two helicopters, several fire departments, and the police were involved in the operation.
The reason why the driver left the Bundesstraße was still unclear. The woman and the children were not in immediate danger, as further information was given.
There had also been an accident on the Bundesstraße between Arzfeld and Lichtenborn the previous Thursday. A bus and a tractor had collided, as the tractor attempted to turn into the flowing traffic. Two people in the bus were slightly injured, both vehicles were heavily damaged.
The local police are investigating the cause of the car accident, as the reason for the vehicle leaving the Bundesstraße remains unclear.
Providing additional safety measures, the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm authorities have considered installing automated speed limit signs along the B410, especially in areas prone to accidents like the one that occurred.
Ms. Smith, a concerned local resident, stressed the importance of raising awareness about traffic safety, particularly in light of the recent accidents on the B410.
The Rhineland-Palatinate authorities have launched a campaign promoting safe driving practices in Bitburg-Prüm, aiming to reduce the number of traffic accidents, including those involving children, along the federal highways.
