Tesla - The bomb at Tesla-Works disarmed - Wood-setters back in camp
After the controlled explosion of a World War II bomb at the Tesla-Works in Grünheide, the activists have re-occupied their forest camp near the factory. The exclusion zone was lifted around 1 pm, said a spokesperson for the community. Therefore, the woodland occupiers were allowed to return to their camp, which had been within the exclusion zone. The explosion is already the second one in the planned expansion area of the Tesla-Factory within a few weeks.
Already on Tuesday morning, Tesla opponents were ordered by the Police to leave their camp for safety reasons. The activists complained about the short notice of the measure and described the police actions as "harassment". The police threatened to remove the occupiers from the camp and clear the area. The activists then complied with the police orders and left their camp voluntarily.
Some Tesla opponents spent the night at the Werlsee in Grünheide, before they returned to the camp on Wednesday.
Affected by the safety perimeter was also a part of the Tesla production area, but according to the company's statements, the production was not affected. Buses and trains from the Fangschleuse station were out of order for several hours. After the explosion, traffic should run smoothly again, said a spokesperson for the Grünheide community.
The approximately 250 kilograms heavy World War II bomb was found on an area where the E-Car factory is to be expanded. The bomb could not be transported and had to be destroyed on site according to the community's statements.
- Despite the controlled explosion of a World War II bomb affecting the GreenHeath area near the Tesla Factory in Brandenburg, the activists remain determined to continue their environmental advocacy in the forest camp.
- The emergency measures put in place after the discovery of the bomb have had consequences for the automobile industry, with Tesla opponents being asked to leave their camp temporarily.
- The police in Germany have been involved in the situation, enforcing safety rules and threatening to clear the forest camp if necessary, but the activists have chosen to comply with the orders voluntarily.
