Football-Bundesliga - Test match bankruptcy in Thailand: Borussia Dortmund loses 0:4
Bundesligist Borussia Dortmund suffered a heavy loss at the start of their Asian tour. Borussia Dortmund were defeated 0:4 (0:2) by Thai League's BG Pathum United. Melvyn Lorenzen (14.) put the hosts in the lead early on. Teerasil Dangda (44.) and twice Jaroensak Wonggorn (65., 88.) built on the advantage and gave BVB an extremely uncomfortable evening on the pitch.
The game at BG Stadium in the Metropolitan Region Bangkok started a quarter of an hour late due to heavy rainfall that had passed through the area just a few hours earlier. Nevertheless, the stadium was filled with over 14,000 spectators. At halftime, trainer Nuri Şahin made ten substitutions. Paris Brunner was the only player to remain on the field in both halves.
However, Dortmund lacked precision in both halves with crosses and passes. The four goals were the result.
For the Dortmund players, the game followed an intense training session on Saturday evening. After the eleven-hour journey to Bangkok, the BVB pros trained at 20.45 p.m. with temperatures still at 30 degrees and tropical-humid air.
Upon arrival on Saturday afternoon, the team was welcomed at the airport by approximately 500 fans in black-yellow jerseys and signs with slogans. For the team of trainer Şahin, the journey continues to Japan, where a test match against Cerezo Osaka is scheduled for Wednesday.
