Seismic Research - Taylor-Beben in the North - Vibrations measurable in kilometers

Taylor Swift caused more than just a stir at her first concert in Hamburg at the Volksparkstadion. The University of Hamburg shows that the ground vibrations were detectable kilometer-long distances away. Researchers investigated using a network of glass fiber cables as seismic sensors, which detected the Vibrations caused by the singer in Hamburg. The result: The 34-year-old not only sets the hearts of her fans aflutter.

Preliminary analyses revealed that the vibrations could be detected over the campus of Hamburg Science City in Bahrenfeld up to Schenefeld, four kilometers away. However, these are not earthquakes but ground vibrations, reassures Prof. Oliver Gerberding.

The vibrations generated by Taylor Swift's concerts have already been recorded by geophysicists at several concerts in different countries. However, Hamburg Science City has a unique measurement network, as the University points out.

People were excited to attend Taylor Swift's concert at Hamburg's People's Park Stadium, known for its vast capacity. The vibrations from Taylor Swift's performance at the Stadium in Hamburg were so strong that they could be detected outside the city, reaching as far as Hamburg Science City in Bahrenfeld and Schenefeld, a distance of four kilometers. This unique occurrence generated a buzz in the field of music and geophysics, as it showed the significant impact of Pop concerts on ground vibrations.
