Suspected IS terrorist arrested in Trier
As an adolescent, Samra N. is said to have joined and supported two terrorist organizations. In Germany, she is also alleged to have campaigned to leave the country for Syria. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has now had her arrested in Trier.
The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has arrested a French woman in Trier who is alleged to have joined the groups Jabhat al-Nusra and Islamic State (IS), which are classified as terrorist organizations, as an adolescent in Syria. She is accused of membership of foreign terrorist organizations, the investigating authority in Karlsruhe announced. She is also accused of war crimes against property.
A judge at the Federal Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant for Samra N. and she was remanded in custody. According to the allegations contained in the arrest warrant, N. traveled to Syria in September 2013 and initially joined the foreign terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra. She married one of the group's fighters according to Islamic rites. Just two months later, the couple joined IS.
N. is said to have advertised on the internet in Germany to also travel to Syria and join Jabhat al-Nusra. One woman had therefore left the country and N. had taken her in temporarily. She also ran the household for her husband and helped him procure military equipment for IS.
When her husband was away on combat missions, she had stayed in women's houses that IS had occupied after the original residents had been driven out. N. returned to Germany at the beginning of 2014, but remained a member of IS until at least February 2015.
The arrest of the suspected IS terrorist in Trier, Samra N., has garnered international attention due to her alleged activities in Syria. She hails from Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in Germany. The authorities have accused her of aiding terrorist organizations, specifically Jabhat al-Nusra and IS, and committing war crimes, including damage to property. Her actions have been deemed a threat to the peace and security of Germany and other nations.
