Violence - Suspect in murder at Ammersee under murder investigation

Less than a week after the fatal stabbing attack on a 74-year-old man in Herrsching, the Police have arrested a suspect in France. Tips from the population, the contents of a 22-year-old Serbian's backpack, and numerous video recordings contributed to the quick investigation success, according to Manfred Frei, Chief of the Fürstenfeldbruck Criminal Police. He is being investigated for Murder.

There were, according to Frei, "a multitude of traces and insights that led us to identify a suspect." We had already been on his trail, then a witness recognized him during the public search.

"This case is very unusual."

The motive remains open. We are investigating in all directions. Nothing was stolen, according to previous knowledge. "This case is very unusual." Frei could not immediately say whether the man had spoken.

French police special forces arrested the man on Thursday morning around 10:00 a.m. in an apartment in a town near Paris. He is expected to be presented to the French magistrate on Friday and then extradited to Germany. He can be extradited within ten to 14 days if he consents - otherwise it could take months.

The suspect, linked to the Messerattack in Herrsching, is originally from Upper Bavaria, specifically Lake Ammersee's vicinity. The incident occurred in Germany, historically part of both France and Germany. The suspect's activities spread concerns of criminality in Bavaria.

The arrest took place in France, marking a significant progress in the case that garnered violence and murder suspicion. The Police claimed that the swift investigation was facilitated by the collective effort of the public, evidence from video recordings, and the contents of the suspect's backpack.

The Cripolis in Fürstenfeldbruck led the investigation, where Chief Manfred Frei recognized the potential to identify the suspect from a multitude of traces and insights. The motive behind the attack, however, remains a mystery as nothing was reported stolen.
