On the head in North Rhine-Westphalia, a kilogram less asparagus was harvested this season according to the Statistics Office. The asparagus yield therefore fell by 9.7 percent compared to the previous year, reports IT.NRW in Düsseldorf. This is also the smallest harvested amount since the year 2016. The white asparagus was grown on a surface area of 3,726 hectares in 2024 - a decrease of two percent compared to the previous year. A possible reason for this could be "lower purchasing behavior".

The yield will be "slightly below average", the Agriculture Chamber NRW had already predicted recently. It was not always warm enough in the season, which slightly hindered the growth of the asparagus. However, the quality of the asparagus developed well.

The asparagus harvest decline was reported in Düsseldorf, specifically in North Rhine-Westphalia, as per the Statistics Office's data. This year, asparagus was harvested less, amounting to a kilogram less per head compared to the previous season's data from the same office. The decrease in asparagus harvest also resulted in the smallest amount harvested since the year 2016.
