Before state election - SPD election campaign term disrupted by Pistorius in Leipzig
A SPD campaign event with Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Leipzig was disrupted on Monday evening. A police spokeswoman stated in response to an inquiry that approximately 50 people had gathered at the event location. It was so loud that the SPD event inside could not be carried out, she added.
There were also disturbances inside the event hall, with three individuals being expelled by the event security. The demonstrations against the SPD event were reportedly organized by the "Peace Create Without Weapons" group and the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW), according to police reports.
Invited to the event was the SPD's leading candidate for the state elections, Petra Köpping. "We don't hide," Köpping wrote on the platform X. "Unfortunately, there are people who want to prevent such discussions with all means. But we won't let that get to us." The majority of attendees had wanted a serious debate, Köpping continued. This had indeed been achieved, she concluded.
