Many music performances, readings, and films directly at the Wattenmeer: At the beach of Dangast (Friesland district), the "Watt en Schlick Festival" has begun. According to Festival speaker Sofie Buchwald, many of the expected 6000 visitors and visitors have already arrived and have listened to the first concerts. "It's already quite full."

Exactly on time, the sun came out from behind the clouds. The brass band Moop Mama x Alice from Munich opened the sold-out Open-Air Festival at the Jadebusen with trumpets and trombones.

A total of 75 concerts, readings, and film screenings are on the program on five stages directly before the World Heritage Wattenmeer until Sunday. The headliner on Saturday evening is the minimal techno duo Kiasmos from Iceland and the Faroe Islands. On Sunday, singer and actress Paula Hartmann will perform.

Discovering something new

The "Watt en Schlick Festival" is celebrating its ten-year anniversary this year. The first edition took place in the summer of 2014. In the past years, the event has been awarded - for example, with the "Helga!" Award in the category "Best Festival".

The idea behind the always internationally staffed and varied festival program remains unchanged, said Buchwald. The "Watt en Schlick" offers festival visitors the opportunity to be curious, discover something new, and be surprised and inspired by previously unknown artists and artists.

Approximately 270 voluntary helpers are working at this year's event, as the festival speaker said. Without their efforts "with love and passion," the small festival would hardly be possible.
