Lower Rhine - Sold-out Electro-Festival 'Parookaville' started

In the Lower Rhine, the sold-out "Parookaville"-Festival in Weeze, at the German-Dutch border, has begun. A total of 75,000 people are expected daily from Tuesday to Sunday. In total, 225,000 tickets were sold. The festival is completely sold out, as in previous years.

The large main stage, whose design remains a mystery until the opening, is in the look of a huge greenhouse with waterfalls and glass domes this year. A total of over 300 DJs and musicians perform on 13 stages, including the Dutch Hardwell and the band Scooter with H.P. Baxter ("Hyper, Hyper"), the Hamburg DJ Felix Jaehn, Robin Schulz, and Armin van Buuren. Five stages stream nine hours of the festival program live on Tiktok and YouTube daily.

"Unforgettable time" for visitors

"We create our own world with Parookaville, where our citizens can completely immerse themselves for a long weekend," said the organizer to the German Press Agency. By offering the first-time early check-in for half of the 45,000 campers on Wednesday, traffic situations in the region around Weeze could be calmed down.

Besides the musical acts, visitors to the festival grounds can look forward to a colorful program. In a 700 square meter pool, festivalgoers can cool off, and at the "Jail," they can get a tattoo or piercing. According to a dpa report, many festivalgoers were already at the pool shortly after the opening, despite high temperatures. Many had come in swimming attire to the somewhat dusty grounds. Free water is available at drinking stations.

Mentalist and Live-Podcast

Traditionally, people get married at "Parookaville": Before it got loud on the main stage, Esther and Martin from Siegburg gave each other the "yes" word in the festival church. Marten Hørger, a star DJ and "Parookaville" artist, was the best man. New this year is the "Theatre District." According to the organizer, it will offer dance and show stages, as well as performances by a mentalist. Additionally, Oliver Pocher and Sandy Meyer-Wölden are expected to record a live podcast there.

The "Parookaville" took place for the first time in the summer of 2015. The festival is designed like a city. In addition to the church, there is also a town hall, where visitors receive their Parookaville pass, and a post office, from which thousands of postcards are sent every year. The festival is named after the fictional founder Bill Parooka. The event at the Lower Rhine is one of the major electronic festivals in Germany.
