Schedule planning - Smarsch completes goalkeeper team at Hertha

Dennis Smarsch completes Hertha BSC's goalkeeper team in the second division of German football. The 25-year-old received a contract with the Berlin club until 30th June 2025, announced the Berliners. Smarsch's contract with MSV Duisburg had expired, leading to his return to the Spree, where he joined Hertha from BSC Rehberge in 2010.

Subsequently, he went through all age groups. In 2018, he won the A-juniors championship. In the 2019/20 season, he made his professional debut and played two Bundesliga matches, before he went to FC St. Pauli and then to the Zebras.

"We are happy that Dennis completes our goalkeeper team and in the future will take an important position in our daily training work. He completed his education in our academy, knows the club well, and stands exemplarily for the Berlin way," said Sport Director Benjamin Weber. Smarsch joined the team on Friday at Hertha's training camp at Walchsee.

Absence of Sessa

Dennis Smarsch's return to Hertha BSC was facilitated by the expiration of his contract with MSV Duisburg. The new schedule planning for Hertha BSC's second Bundesliga season includes Smarsch as a key member of their goalkeeper team. Hertha BSC Berlin's acquisition of Smarsch is a significant transfer, as he spent a decade with the club before moving to BSC Rehberge and then to other teams.

In the heart of Berlin, the Capital Club is preparing for the upcoming season with their new addition. Smarsch's return to the Spree, the waterbody that divides the city, is a testament to his loyalty to the city's soccer culture, including teams like Hertha BSC and MSV Duisburg. During his time away from Hertha BSC, Smarsch gained valuable experience in the Bundesliga with FC St. Pauli and the Zebras.

As the new season in the Second Bundesliga approaches, Hertha BSC fans are eager to see Smarsch back between the posts. The 25-year-old goalkeeper's previous stint with Hertha BSC Berlin, which started in 2010, promises to bring a familiar yet upgraded dynamic to the team's defense. Smarsch's signing is a strategic move by Hertha BSC's management to bolster their team and challenge for promotion from the Second Bundesliga.
