Process - Six years in prison after fatal car accident
In the trial for a fatal car accident in Baden-Württemberg, the 34-year-old defendant has been sentenced to six years in prison. This is the conclusion of an event that was caused by "many unfortunate moments", said the judge at the sentencing at Stuttgart District Court.
The public prosecutor's office had previously demanded seven years in prison, the defense three and a half years in prison for what they saw as a less serious case of manslaughter.
In connection with the crime, Hollywood-like scenes took place in Reichenbach an der Fils, south-east of Stuttgart, at the end of May: The 34-year-old woman had driven off in her car in fear after an argument - with her partner on the hood. Whether he jumped onto the car himself remained unclear until the end. The woman drove almost two kilometers with him through the town. The 32-year-old finally got under the car on the country road and died from his serious injuries.
She did not brake
Although she had not intended for her partner to die, she did not care at that moment, the judge concluded. The defendant had a fear reaction, but not a "headless panic reaction". She would have had "x alternatives for action" on the long drive, during which her partner had called for help on the hood.
However, the defendant had not braked and had instead driven up to 70 kilometers per hour in some cases, thereby accepting the death of her partner. The woman did not use the vehicle as a vehicle, but "perverted it as a tool" - and did not even have a driving license.
The accused and her partner had been in a toxic relationship from which neither of them had been able to free themselves, the judge said. The 34-year-old had admitted to the crime and apologized to the victim's relatives during the trial. "You have to be able to deal with death," said the judge. "We will never be able to take that away from them."
The defendant said that she would accept the verdict and waive her right to appeal - as did the other parties involved in the proceedings.

The fatal accident occurred in the region of Baden-Württemberg, specifically in the town of Reichenbach an der Fils, which is situated south-east of Stuttgart, Germany. The defendant's car journey following the argument with her partner led to several 'unfortunate moments', resulting in her partner's death on a country road. Despite the public prosecutor's office demanding seven years in prison, the 34-year-old was sentenced to six years by the Stuttgart Regional Court. The woman's fear reaction during the accident did not result in a 'headless panic reaction', and she failed to use alternative actions, such as braking, throughout the high-speed drive. The judgment also noted that the woman perverted the car as a tool, considering she did not have a driving license. Her partner's death was a consequence of her acceptance of the situation and the speed at which she drove.
In acknowledging the verdict, the defendant waived her right to appeal, just like the other parties involved in the trial. This incident highlighted the toxic nature of the relationship between the accused and her partner, from which neither was able to escape. The crime scene in Reichenbach an der Fils was reminiscent of Hollywood-like scenes, with the 34-year-old woman driving her partner on the hood of her car, leading to his tragic death from severe injuries.
The fatal incident in Stuttgart attracted attention from various German media sources, such as Stern, which reported the details of the court case and the defendant's sentencing. The episode underscores the dangerous circumstances that can exacerbate toxic relationships and the impact they can have on others' lives.
