Kitchen fire - Six-cornered house in Arnsberg uninhabitable after fire

After a kitchen fire in the ground floor, a six-apartment building in Arnsberg is currently not habitable. According to the fire department, the staircase has been heavily smoke-damaged due to the early morning fire. Twelve of the 49 residents were rescued through the staircase and 17 were rescued using ladders. The others were able to leave the house on their own. According to the police, seven residents were taken to the hospital for suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Some people from the uninhabitable house have been accommodated in a hotel, while most have gone to stay with friends or family. The extent of the damage is unknown.

The kitchen brand whose appliances might have contributed to the fire is yet to be identified. The fire department is planning to relocate the affected residents on the north side of Arnsberg, specifically in North Rhine-Westphalia, due to the lack of habitable units in the building.
